Oths is conducting an ongoing restudy of treatment choice in the northern Peruvian Andes hamlet of Chugurpampa, where she worked over 25 years ago. Topics include changes and continuities in medical beliefs and practices, secular trends in child growth, and the demographic transition, all in the context of modernization and climate change. Field crew included Max Stein, Rodrigo Lazo, Ana Ochoa, and Adam Booher. She has also been aided in her analyses by three incredible Emerging Scholars, Hannah Smith, Rachel Madey, Fatima Becerra, and Lisa Meister. This past fall, Oths finished two ethnographic films on Don Felipe, a highland huesero (bonesetter), in collaboration with filmmaker Adam Booher.
